HOMERO

Since my teenager years, I have this fixed idea of circumnavigating the world in a sailboat. I raced many in my youth, but it was local sailing. Now, with 61 my knees do not agree with my brain. Nevertheless, I bought the boat and will try first the Bahamas… then we will see if that is really what I want. The text below was written some years ago during my many motorcycle trips. Now instead of Asphalt, will be waves, wind and corals. Enjoy

I bought my first motorcycle when I was 17. I have lost the count of how many bikes I had in these 47 years since I bought the first one. On a quick math, I believe I have more than 120,000 miles (200 thousand Kilometers) on motorcycle. No wonder I have a dislocated tail bone, but with the new buttpad made of sheepskin, I think everything will be much smooth. Besides this rear end problem, I had only two mildly serious accidents, the first when I hit my head, without helmet on the sandy beach near Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, when I suffer amnesia for 4 hours… Some friends insists I still have it… and when a Volkswagen beetle hit me from behind when I stop in a green light at 2 am to check if nobody was crossing the red light at that hour. With the years and miles, you develop reflex that when the critical situation arises, the brain reacts quicker. I believe this is the reason why I have been driving bikes for decades without any accident. I hope it remains like that.
